This design was inspired by the gowns and outfits worn in the Star Wars Prequel movies, most specifically by characters in Royalty and Senatorial positions. What appeals to me in these costumes is they are not only very gorgeous, they also don't have many restrictions. Inpiration for the original designs for this were taken from all different culture's histories including Asian, African, Greek, European, and more. Many design aspects are also new and unique. Here's a small gallery of various works as seen in the Star Wars movies, a few out of hundreds. A few were taken by me at the Star Wars: Dressing the Galaxy exhibit where I got to see these costumes in person. Click on the picture to see the full sized view.
