I came up with this design in 2005, after I visited the Star Wars: Designing the Galaxy exhibit (click picture to see full size). The design I came up with is inspired by the more regal Senatorial type costumes from the Prequel Movies. The dress itself will be made with microsuedes in shades of sage green and brown, with beads and satin appliques. The dress consists of three parts: The Underdress, the Cincher, and the Poncho.

The Underdress, whose separate illustration will be finished shortly, has a mock-vest bodice of brown microsuede with a quilted topstitching and brown satin (or silk dupioni) appliques with satin stitching and possibly light beading. The skirt and sleeves are an olivy fabric, which I have two possibilities for: a bumpy unknown stretch fabric, or a scaly suede, I haven't decided which to use yet. The sleeves have a lace-up detail, and the skirt has brown microsuede piece in front and train in back which also features satin appliques.

The Cincher will be of brown microsuede with a decorative faggoting stitching. The fabric underneath the faggoting will be a bright lime green satin, and probably close with hook and eyes up one side.

The cincher is meant to be worn with the poncho. The poncho will most likely be of a silk velvet which I want to be a bronzy/green color. I will be experimenting with some silk-velvet scarves which I will cross-dye the silk backing black and the pile the bronze color. There will be a decorative bit with some beading or satin stitching down the sides of the poncho.
