Star Wars: Fit for a Queen

Attack of the Clones: Zam Wesell is both a bounty hunter and a Clawdite changeling, and her elaborate outfit reflects both facets of her personality. As a bounty hunter, Zam is protected by her flexible armorweave jerkin, blast-energy sink skirt, and shin guard boots. While pursuing prey, she is aided by her direct-to-lungs breathpack, the universal key strapped to her thigh, a projectile rifle, and a light helmet which features a built-in comlink, retractable electrobinoculars, and a glare-cutting visor. Additionally, the purplish hue of her ensemble and the veil covering her face help Zam blend into the shadows and remain unnoticed.

But just as important to Zam's outfit is her biology and culture. Her elastic bodysuit stretches during her changes and her boots are designed to fit many different limbs. And as Zam's fighting style is influenced by the Mabari, a race of ancient warrior knights from her homeplanet Zolan, the clasp of her cape is Mabari. The inscriptions on the clasp and on the breathpack are also Mabari, identifying Zam as a third-level Mabari fighter.

Design: Like so many other Star Wars costumes, Zam's ensemble was a huge help to actress Leanna Walshman: "The costume and the weaponry really help make the character. You look at yourself in the mirror and you say, 'This is how I'm going to be.' "
